Many people have gone through our HCG program and we love to highlight people who have found success and reached their goals. One of those people is Dr. Rowser’s brother LeRoy. We had the chance to listen to LeRoy talk about his experience with the Horizons Weight Loss program, and have put together his advice on things you can learn from the entire experience, and your weight loss journey in general.

HCG Weight Loss Success

1. Control

There are many aspects of life in which we may have no control over things. Suffering from anxiety and depression is one of those things, and anxiety is exacerbated by that feeling of not having any control. As LeRoy puts it, “I feel that, you know there’s a lot of things in your life that you don’t have control of, so I think with HCG and this program it gave me something to control, something to manipulate. I have full control over this program. And there are a lot of things in your life everyday that you don’t have control over. No matter what you do there are just some things you can’t control, but with HCG you control everything.” It can be easy to sometimes feel like you have no control over your weight, but this program is an opportunity to change that and really take control over your food choices, lifestyle choices, and overall health.

2. Fitness is important

Losing weight is not just about looking good, but feeling good too. And a big part of feeling good is having a regular fitness routine. In regards to working out LeRoy was saying, “I’m not doing it to lose weight. I’m not doing it for HCG. I’m just doing it to motivate myself to go to the gym. Because it can’t all be about losing weight, it can’t all be about HCG. It has to be about a lifestyle and wanting to be different.”  He then goes on, “And with fitness find things that you like. If you don’t like going to the gym and spending all day there then don’t do that. Find something you like. Some people do Zumba, do classes, swimming, just find something you like and make sure you’re doing it – make sure it’s a full body. I mean if you don’t like working out there are bands that you can hook up to pretty much any door in the house and go through like static stretches. There’s really no excuse not to move around.” For ideas for alternatives to the traditional gym work out, check out our blog about gym alternatives here.

3. Having a hero helps

Having some sort of role model that you look up to can help keep you motivated in regards to your health and fitness goals. “It’s really important to find people you look up to. Just that motivates you. And everybody has them.” This can be someone you know, or maybe some sort of celebrity or someone you follow on social media.

4. Goal making is a must

Set both short-term and long-term goals for yourself. This can be anything related to a healthy lifestyle – as LeRoy suggests, “Find goals that have nothing to do with HCG and weight loss, just about fitness. If you only walk 20 minutes, try to walk 45. If you don’t have that time, then try to walk twice in a day, like morning and evening. Challenge yourself to do things.” While the path to success is sometimes difficult, just, “remember there’s 2 types of pain, the pain of discipline and the pain of regret. We all live with regret so it’s time to start living with a little bit of discipline.”

5. Listen to your body

There’s a difference between working hard and overexerting yourself. LeRoy suggests to, “challenge yourself but don’t hurt yourself. You gotta know your body and know when you’re being soft or when you’re hurt.” If you work too hard and overdo it, you can risk setbacks due to injuries.

6. Be passionate

Indifference in regards to a healthy lifestyle is not going to get you to reach your goals. LeRoy says, “Like whatever you’re doing to reach the goal you have to have more passion to it than the goal itself. It has to be a lifestyle change. You can’t say ‘oh I wanna lose weight’ and be indifferent about the things that are gonna help you lose weight. What’s gonna get you there has to be passionate. I think just the will or desire to be great must far surpass the will to win.”

7. It’s a lifestyle change

The Horizons Weight Loss Program is not just about losing weight. It’s about changing bad habits and replacing them with good ones. It’s about being healthy. It’s about feeling good. The road to change isn’t easy, and it’s not a temporary change either. LeRoy explains, “HCG is crazy. It’s really hard but you are going to have to find a way to love this or you aren’t going to reach your goals, and that’s with anything in this life, regarding weight loss. You can do whatever program and you are going to find yourself with the same mental blocks. Remember what you felt like that very first round. Remember what your goal was. Remember what got you in that door. Remember what it was like to feel that sick and tired.”

With the right motivation and mindset, you can reach your goals and feel better. Horizons is here to support you on your journey!
